Realme Sub-brand Techlife Launches An Affordable Portable Monitor

Techlife, a sub-brand from smartphone-maker Realme, has just launched a new 15.6" 1080p portable monitor. Now, portable monitors are not that hard to find these days, but one from a trusted brand can be slightly harder to find. Acer and Asus are the well-known brands that have launched portable monitors, and they're around the PHP 9,000 price point (Est. US$ 148). Techlife's portable monitor actually isn't that much lower-priced at PHP 7,999, but with online discounts and vouchers you can easily get the price around PHP 5,500. A much more palatable price but given the stiff competition for portable monitors, is it worth it? Check out the specs below and our voucher / price recommendations and link to purchase.

As far as portable monitors are concerned, the Techlife Portable Monitor is pretty standard. The size of 15.6" and 1080p resolution is the most common size for these products. Of course, the 60Hz refresh is also common, but we would have wanted something like 120Hz for a smoother experience. An unimpressive 45% NTSC color gamut is also average, but still less than impressive. A lack of touchscreen is also unfortunate, but we do admit the VESA mounting holes are a nice bonus so you can customize your usage experience. And support for Type C DP Alt Mode video is welcome, so you can plug in high end devices that support it - like a Steam Deck or of course other laptops that support it. (Among other things like smartphones that have DP Alt Mode like Samsung flagships.)

For HDMI users, you can pretty much attach any device. Game consoles, TV boxes, desktop or laptop PCs, and the list can go on of course.

So is it the most amazing portable monitor ever? Not really. But the price may just be alright especially since it is a trusted brand. With vouchers, we managed to get the price down to PHP 5,5xx. And that may just be enough to grab if you like knowing the brand you're buying.
