Well, this is a very time-sensitive post and is weird typing out such an article for it. It is currently June 4, 2026 and we're still in the midst of the energy crisis due to the US/Israel/Iran War. At the same time, the Philippine energy grid in the past month has been unstable.
Due to this, Filipinos have been panic buying home energy backup solutions - particularly Power Stations, solar batteries, solar equipment, and Solar Panels. So much so that we tried to order thrice before and the seller asked us to cancel all three times. (Pictured below)
(Yes, we could complain about the seller not providing the product, but we opted not to. At the same time, we have firsthand knowledge of some user receiving a circuit breaker instead of a battery. So yes, there is uncertainty in today's market.)
Anyway, fast forward to June 3, yesterday. We saw that the 40w panel is available again and decided to try ordering two units. To our surprise it shipped that afternoon and it delivered today. So it took about 24 hours from noon yesterday to noon today to get here.
Priced at PHP 684 at 40w, the effective price per watt is (684 / 40 =) PHP 17.1, which is close enough to our personal goal of PHP 15 per watt cost of a flexible / fixed solar panel. (In contrast, portable panels are more expensive and we usually target about PHP 30 per watt if its a portable panel.)
We're currently in the process of testing them right now - and they are detected as panels but still haven't seen their potential yet because its very cloudy.
