Nintendo has finally released an official teaser video for their upcoming new hybrid home/portable console called the Switch 2 - the successor to the wildly successful Switch that was launched in 2017. Nearly a decade later, the new Switch has big shoes to fill, and while the teaser is light on specs, we can see that physically the Switch 2 is larger, with a new Joycon attachment system, new infinite angle kickstand, and finally a confirmation that it is backwards compatible with original Switch games both physical and digital. Quite an awesome promise - though there is a small disclaimer that not all games may run. Watch the video above to see the preview teaser, or read up on what to expect below.
The Switch 2 has been rumored and expected for years now. Performance would of course be better, though we still don't think it can beat the more powerful home consoles like the PS5. Wouldn't matter though, because its all about the games - of which we didn't see anything except a Mario Kart game.
But for now, aside from the info about what the console looks like - which is a bit more subdued black with red/blue analog stick accents - that's all we know. We'll have to wait until April, but at least we know the console will be releasing this year (2025) - likely in the Holiday season. I guess we should save up now!
