DJI PH Launches The DJI Neo 2 - A Follow Drone Upgraded With Obstacle Avoidance For PHP 12k!

Around September last year, DJI launched their most user-friendly drone to date - the DJI Neo. It was capable of being launched and flown from your hand without a controller or even knowledge on how to fly a quadcopter. And it had advanced features like following you so you can actually move around a scene and be shot from a flying viewpoint with your hands-free. It was quite impressive, and generally even without any obstacle avoidance it did a good job of preventing any collisions using some sort of visual navigation. But now, DJI have decided to grace their newly launched DJI Neo 2 with real obstacle avoidance sensors - a feature typically only found in their higher end aircrafts like the Mini 4 Pro and above. And the best part? It's only priced at PHP 12,390! And there's more - like hand gestures, two-axis gimbal, etc. That's pretty crazy for just a minor price bump. Check out more of the specs below or watch DJI's launch trailer embedded above.

DJI Neo 2 – PHP 12.4k (Single) / Est. US$ 211

  • PHP 16.5k (Fly More Drone) Est. US$ 281 / PHP 20.6k (Fly More Combo) Est. US$ 350 / PHP 30.5k (Motion FMC) Est. US$ 519
  • 2-Axis Gimbal Follow Me / Vlogging Camera Drone
  • 1/2" Image Sensor
  • 151g without O4 Receiver / 160g with O4 Receiver
  • 4K60FPS Video / 4K100FPS Slow Motion
  • 2.7K Vertical Video
  • FocusTrack: ActiveTrack (with the new Cycling option), Spotlight, Point of Interest
  • Gesture Controllable
  • Launch and Return to Palm
  • Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing
  • 19 mins max flight time
  • Range: Wi-Fi - 500m, O4 - 10km
  • 12m/s Max Tracking Speed
  • 49GB Internal Storage
  • FPV Capable (*Plus Manual mode in a firmware update)

Of note, the new Neo 2 have Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensors that will prevent it from colliding into trees, walls, poles, and the like. We doubt its 100% foolproof against really thin obstacles, but for 99% of things the drone may hit, it will likely avoid given the sensors. Plus, its fully encompassed with prop guards so just like the Neo it can survive most small bumps and scrapes.

Then, we have a new 2-Axis Gimbal that would significantly improve the video quality of the Neo 2 over its predecessor. Because the Neo's camera uses cropping to counteract the tilt of the drone, the resulting video quality is much less impressive. Now with the extra gimbal, the Neo 2 won't have to and would result in a better image.

All this for an impressive price of PHP 12,390 (Est. US$ 211) for the single drone unit. The drone with 3 batteries and a charging hub is PHP 16.5k (Est. US$ 281). The drone with 3 batteries and hub and remote is PHP 20.6k (Est. US$ 350). And finally if you want to get into the world of FPV flying, the combo with drone, 3 batteries, FPV goggles N3, and motion controller is PHP 30.5k (Est. US$ 519). Just like the Neo before it, but with maybe 2-3k pesos increase in price. This is what we mean by a huge improvement for not much more price.
